Carl L. Buster, 81, of Bettendorf, was taken home to be with his Lord and savior on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center-West Central Park. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 12th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly and Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport with burial to follow at 1 PM at the Grandview Cemetery, Grandview, Iowa. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials in Carl's memory will be used to honor God and will be donated to Grace Evangelical Free Church for the expansion of the sanctuary and to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank in Iowa City.

Carl was born in 1929 at the family home in Grandview, Iowa, the son of Pastor Dean F. and Ethel Nina Buster. He attended schools in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin as his father moved in various ministry opportunities. He graduated from Grandview High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Patricia E. Grossklaus on December 19, 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Carl worked for 40 years at Alcoa in Riverdale, Iowa as a maintenance supervisor mainly in the ingot department. Carl was one of the founders of Grace Evangelical Church in Davenport, IA. During his life time he was active in many Christian activities such as teaching Sunday School, youth leader, being both an Elder and a Deacon in the Church, Church group leader and a member of the Hilltopper Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Alcoa Retirees Club and past president of their master condo association. He enjoyed his family and the time spent with his granddaughter. He and his family enjoyed serving the Lord, traveling, boating and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Christine (Charles) Leibrandt and granddaughter, Erin Leibrandt, all of Bettendorf; sister, Carolyn (David) Thompson of Grandview; and brother, Merwin (Judy) Buster of Forney, TX. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Van Amerongen of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
