Bishop Rayes Martin Soto, 77, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away Wednesday, January 10th, 2018 at his home. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 15th at Christ Apostolic Church, 1201 West 6th Street, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 pm Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport.. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park where military honors will be provided. Memorials may be made to Christ Apostolic Church.

Pastor Soto was born in 1940 in Oak Park, Illinois to Jesus Andrew Martinez and Myree Soto. He served with U.S. Army. He married Barbara Breckenridge in 1969, who preceded him in death. On July 21, 1973 he married Sandra Reese in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death October 29, 2010. At the time of his death, he served as the Residency Bishop of P.C.A.F and Sr. pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Davenport. He entered the ministry in 1957 and in 1981 he established Christ Apostolic Church in the basement of his home. In 1996 he broke ground for the construction and completion of the current Christ Apostolic Church, with the help of Thomas P. Green (contractor), the Assistant Pastor and church members.

Survivors include his daughters Raisa (Tournear) Manley of Davenport, Victoria (Samuel) Fulton of Rock Island, and Kelly (Lloyd) Eston of Davenport; son Calvin Reese, Jr. (Vicky) of Cincinnati, OH; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Caroline Waits of Centerville, IA and LaQuita (John) Chezum of Viola, IL; and brothers John (Rose) Soto of Clintonville, WI and Jim Soto of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, an infant daughter, two brothers and five sisters.
